2017 financial report: Häfele Group’s revenue grows 4.9%

The international Häfele Group for hardware technology and electronic access control systems finished 2017 with total revenue of 1.375 billion Euros (2016: 1.311 billion Euros). This corresponded to a growth of 4.9%. Adjusted for currency effects, it was even 6.5%.

While 37 foreign subsidiaries made an increase of 6.3%, the parent company and the six production companies in Germany contributed 1.7%. Positive growth was recorded in almost every market where the company operates. The “main growth drivers” in the past year were the subsidiaries in the USA, Vietnam and India. The growth rates in the Asian markets were generally above-average.

In fact, present in over 150 countries with 7,600 employees (2016: 7,400 people), Häfele Group generated 80 percent of its revenue outside Germany.

At every market, Häfele lives by the philosophy of staying in close contact with customers, producing a range of products and services tailor-made to customers’ needs. Moreover, the products are manufactured at the company’s production facilities or in line with the “Häfele German Quality standards” by 1,500 partners around the globe. Together these factors have helped Häfele remain a reliable supplier among the world’s leading furniture manufacturers, architects and planners as well as joiners/cabinet makers, and dealers over the years.

Focus on hospitality and Smart Home

Häfele Group is currently pushing ahead with new plans for the growing business of hotels, apartment buildings, and clinics, following the successful concept of 360° comprehensive project solutions in previous years, i.e. the “One Room, one Face – one Style” assortment of 200 hotel products from a single cast, and the modular room concept “MiroApart 20/30” helping create comfortable and efficient living spaces in small apartments.

On the other hand, Häfele has also become a pioneer in the new and potential sector of Smart Home solutions. An app for smartphones and tablets, Häfele Connect, for instance, enables users to network and control light and sound as well as electrical drives in furniture.

Given the optimistic start to the new financial year as well as upcoming opportunities, Häfele Group expects yet another positive growth in 2018. “We are anticipating a mid-single digit increase in revenue for the whole year,” says Managing Director Sibylle Thierer.
